ActionIs Congo worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Co-op horror players who want to coordinate with a group of up to 4
- Friends looking for a local split-screen game rather than an online-only co-op experience
- Action players who enjoy scavenging weapons and using light to hold back enemies
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a story-led campaign with a described narrative arc may find the focus on survival and escape too limited.
- Players wanting a low-pressure pace may find repeated demon attacks and resource scavenging demanding.
- Solo players looking for a game built around single-player play may not suit the co-op emphasis.
Our take on Congo
The focus on cooperative survival gives the game a narrow center: combat, scavenging and escape take priority over a described story campaign. Its light tools also offer only temporary protection unless players find fuel to keep building lights running.
What is Congo?
Congo is a top-down horror action game set in a jungle where demons attack from dark areas.
Players search towns, rivers, caves and other locations for a route to escape while scavenging guns and useful items. Light can repel demons: fuel powers lights in abandoned buildings, while flares and flashlights provide temporary protection. Other items can clear rocks, create improvised traps and open locked gates. The game includes 6 objective maps and 16 defense maps. Local split-screen and online co-op support up to 4 players. Experience earned during play increases abilities such as reload speed, survival time and gate-opening speed. Progress also unlocks items that can be selected at the start of a game.
How Congo plays
