- Players looking for a realistic or contemporary setting will find the tone rooted in dark fantasy and doom metal
Our take on Hand of Doom
The store presentation foregrounds the wizard premise, branching relationships, and nostalgic FMV style, but gives less emphasis to the narrow structure implied by a focused wizard simulator. The experience centers on spell recitation, puzzles, combat, and a defined story rather than broad RPG systems.
What is Hand of Doom?
Hand of Doom is a dark fantasy wizard RPG set in several planes of existence.
A wizard’s apprentice, bound to a powerful sorcerer by a blood contract, is sent to hunt down Doomlords. The player can battle these beings or make allies of them, and that choice changes the story’s ending. Progress involves learning spells and speaking their incantations word by word; magic is used to solve puzzles and fight enemies. Drawing on dungeon-crawling RPGs and FMV games from the early 1990s, the game combines live-action video with a doom metal-inspired world. Its story follows the resurrection of a master of death, the gathering power of his cultists, and a struggle to prevent a disaster spanning the universe.
