Our take on Gugong
The defining constraint is that every gift card offered must exceed the value of the card received, turning each action into a trade-off between immediate choices and future options.
What is Gugong?
Gugong is a strategy board game adaptation set in China during the Ming Dynasty.
Players represent Chinese families and exchange gift cards with Officials to take actions at seven card locations. The card received must be lower in value than the card offered, creating choices about which actions to take each turn. A game lasts four rounds, or Days, with Morning, Day, and Night phases.
Players travel across China, sail the Grand Canal, acquire jade, contribute to the Great Wall, use Decrees, and apply intrigue. At the end of the fourth Day, additional Victory Points are awarded for the Great Wall, level 3 Decrees, Palace arrival order, and jade. The app includes solo play against Meng at three difficulty levels, a tutorial, and written rules.
How Gugong plays

- 03Solo Opponent
