Our take on Grotto
The store page foregrounds mystical imagery and the tribe's fate, but gives less emphasis to the game's confined setting and dialogue-led structure. The central activity is interpreting signs and advising residents, rather than broad exploration or action.
What is Grotto?
Grotto is a narrative-focused adventure in which the player becomes the Soothsayer for a tribe living in a troubled valley.
From a sacred rock, the Soothsayer studies the sky, draws constellations, and interprets messages from the stars. Divination also includes reading bones and contacting the dead. Tribe members visit for guidance about their problems, and dialogue choices affect the present and future of the community. The tribe may prosper or perish according to the advice given. Players can analyze each constellation carefully or allow the stars to guide their thoughts. The game presents its confined world through a visual style combining 2D and 3D artwork.
