Our take on Gold Rush! Classic
Rather than centering the adventure on combat or exploration alone, the game makes a cross-country journey its main structure. Route choice divides the story into three treks, while a parser interface and historical travel setting replace the more common action-driven format.
What is Gold Rush! Classic?
Set during the 1849 California gold rush, this adventure follows Jerrod Wilson from New York toward the gold regions.
Three routes are available: an overland journey across the Great Plains and mountain ranges, a passage across the Isthmus of Panama, or a voyage around Cape Horn. Each route includes historical sights and presents a separate adventure. Reaching Sutter’s Fort marks only the midpoint, with more puzzles to solve in California. The game uses a parser interface and artwork depicting the middle of the 19th century. Bonus material includes a historical map of the routes, the original user guide, and unpublished concept drawings from the developer. DOSBox installs and configures the game for Windows systems beginning with Windows XP.
