Our take on The Hero
The game foregrounds a large open-world concept and an ambition to evoke AAA experiences, but its concrete scope is described mainly through two settings, vehicle use, exploration, and bug-fix updates. The result is a broad premise with limited detail about mission structure, progression, or combat depth.
What is The Hero?
"The Hero" is an open-world action-adventure game split between two connected stories.
One follows John Matt through an imagined, troubled version of New York, where gangs control parts of the city. The other follows Jack Papesto, a peacekeeper in London in 1802 during the Fraser campaign in Egypt. The game includes exploration across city environments, with locations such as police and fire stations and a church. In New York, a modified car can be driven through the city, used against enemies, and fitted with turbo for faster travel.
In London, players drive period carriages among pedestrians. The game also includes visual effects made with UDK. Two updates address performance, crashes, sound, weapons, character appearances, aiming after cover, an elevator, and collision issues.
