The defining structure is a portal-defense expedition: workers gather materials and build around a gateway while successive guardian waves target it, with the final objective of securing the portal and bringing gems home.
What is Gem Rifts?
Gem Rifts is a portal-defense strategy game for solo play or co-op with up to four players.
Expeditions enter other worlds, gather resources, and construct defenses around a portal before guardian creatures attack in waves. Workers can hunt, mine, harvest, and build, with roles assigned through sliders while they carry out tasks automatically. Towers use gems and resources to burn, freeze, shock, or disintegrate enemies, and different towers can be combined into new types. A research tree opens additional buildings, units, and items. Players can trade resources, collect gems from defeated guardians, and spend them to reach new worlds. The objective is to protect the portal through the final attack and return with as many gems as possible.
