StrategyIs Frack the World worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who prefer short management puzzles over extended campaigns
- Simulation fans interested in the trade-off between oil production and environmental effects
- Bird-watching fans who also want an oil-company management game
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking deep, long-term management systems may find the lite puzzle format and short matches limiting
- Players looking for varied activities throughout a session may find the core management loop focused on running an oil company
- Players who want bird watching without company management may not want the main gameplay
Our take on Frack the World
The short-match format concentrates play on immediate management trade-offs, but leaves less room for extended company development. Bird Mode offers a change of pace, though the main activity remains managing oil production and its surrounding pressures.
What is Frack the World?
Run a hydrofracking company through 12 scenarios and over 20 quick-play stages.
Matches last 10 minutes on average and combine underground planning with surface management. Extend pipes to extract oil while navigating obstacles below ground, then build and manage facilities above ground amid protests and pollution. Balance production, finances, environmental effects, and public perception. Choose from six companies with different strengths and weaknesses. Between management tasks, Bird Mode lets players search the sky for birds and read information about them. Staff provide information through a news scroll, which also carries stories about the business. The game frames land management as a compact puzzle centered on running an oil company while handling competing concerns.
