We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Space-game players who prefer mining and outpost work to shooting-focused action
- Simulation fans who want to manage ore, equipment, and facilities on asteroids
- Players drawn to low-gravity exploration who enjoy a slower, solitary pace
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking frequent combat or action-heavy encounters may find the mining-centered gameplay subdued.
- Players looking for varied, fast-changing scenarios may find repeated ore extraction and outpost operations limited in scope.
- Players who do not enjoy resource management may not want to sell ore and spend credits on supplies and facilities.
Our take on Belt Colony
The focus on quiet mining and outpost management leaves little room for action-heavy play. That trade-off supports a slower routine of gathering ore, maintaining equipment, and traveling between asteroids rather than a combat-led structure.
What is Belt Colony?
Set in 2040, Belt Colony casts the player as an ex-sergeant working under contract for a mining corporation in the Asteroid Belt.
Mine surface rocks, sell ore for credits, and use them to buy equipment, buildings, upgrades, repairs, food, and water. Build an outpost with storage, solar panels, refineries, landing pads, and other facilities. Drones haul ore and small equipment, while extractors obtain different ores beneath the surface. A spaceship enables more efficient mining and travel to other asteroids. The game also includes low- and zero-gravity physics, tasks for other belters, space stations, and fuel, oxygen, and integrity mechanics for spacesuits and spaceships.
How Belt Colony plays
- 01Outpost construction
- Build facilities such as storage, solar panels, refineries, and landing pads on an asteroid.
- 02Surface and deep mining
- Mine rocks on the surface or use specialized extraction rigs to obtain different ores below it.
- 03Drone operations
- Use drones to haul ore and small pieces of equipment.
- 04Large asteroid exploration
- Explore and mine asteroids measuring 1 to 3 km in diameter.
- 05Space station visits
