StrategyIs Flotilla worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want spatial positioning to shape battles
- Adventure players who prefer changing maps, encounters, and equipment
- Local co-op pairs seeking a shared space campaign
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a fixed campaign with predictable encounters may bounce off the randomized universe structure.
- Players who prefer simple two-dimensional combat may hit a wall when managing movement and attack angles in full 3D.
- Players seeking a character-focused RPG may find the fleet-command structure too distant from individual heroes.
Our take on Flotilla
The likely bounce point is the combat grid—or rather, the lack of one. Players accustomed to flat battlefields must account for positioning in every direction, while the changing universe can make repeated runs feel less like a planned campaign and more like a new setup each time.
What is Flotilla?
Flotilla is a space strategy adventure about commanding orbital battleships across randomly generated universes.
Each journey combines combat, trading, planetary exploration, characters, upgrades, and encounters. Battles use full three-dimensional movement, allowing fleets to approach enemies from any direction and position ships around changing angles. Loot gathered during encounters can be used to fit ships with upgrades and artifacts. Cooperative splitscreen supports two-player adventures, while Skirmish Mode allows custom fleets to fight human or computer-controlled opponents. After an adventure ends, another randomized universe can be created, changing the available characters, equipment, and encounters.
How Flotilla plays
- 01Three-Dimensional Combat
- Ships can maneuver around opponents vertically and horizontally to create different attack angles.
- 02Randomized Universes
- New adventures vary the characters, equipment, and encounters placed throughout the galaxy.
- 03Fleet Upgrades
- Loot found during encounters provides upgrades and artifacts that can be installed on fleet ships.
- 04Cooperative Splitscreen
- Two players can share an adventure through local split-screen play.
- 05Custom Fleet Skirmishes
- Skirmish Mode supports custom fleets against either human or computer-controlled enemies.
