Our take on Firekeep
The description stresses strategic depth and repeated runs, but also frames the game around tiny cities and quick sessions. Its current early state is the clearest qualification to that replay-focused pitch.
What is Firekeep?
Firekeep is a strategy game about building a small city on islands in space.
Each tile holds one building, and each building produces some resources while requiring others. Buildings exchange resources only with adjacent tiles, so placement determines whether a building receives what it needs. Once supplied with all required resources, a building upgrades and produces additional resources. Completing an island unlocks building and upgrade blueprints for the tech tree. The game includes over 50 buildings to discover and combine into resource chains or other synergies. Islands are procedurally generated, and the short-run structure is intended to support repeated play. The game is in a very early state, according to its description.
How Firekeep plays
- 01Adjacent resource links
- Buildings can exchange resources only with buildings on neighboring tiles, making placement part of each resource chain.
- 02Automatic upgrades
- A building changes into a new type after receiving every resource it requires.
- 03Unlockable blueprints
- Completing an island adds building and upgrade blueprints to the tech tree.
- 04Procedural islands
- Each run takes place on procedurally generated islands.
