Our take on Final Recurrence
The premise introduces an investigation with two friends, while the gameplay details focus on searching, puzzle solving, note collection, and survival meters. The friends establish the story, but their role in moment-to-moment play is not explained.
What is Final Recurrence?
Final Recurrence is a first-person horror game set in 2001.
Players take the role of Paul Brooke, a 21-year-old police officer investigating the kidnapping of an eight-year-old boy in 1999. After police show little interest in the case, Paul and his friends Alex and Gabriel follow a lead to Shepherd’s Hill forest. The goal is to find Stephen and get out of the forest. Searching involves managing stamina and sanity; low sanity affects gameplay. Players solve puzzles and gather notes to learn about past events. Test subjects can hear sounds through the player's microphone. The game contains flashing lights and strong language.
How Final Recurrence plays
- 01Stamina and sanity
- Both levels need attention during the search, and reduced sanity changes gameplay.
- 02Puzzle and note investigation
- Solving puzzles and collecting notes reveals more about earlier events.
- 03Microphone sound detection
- Test subjects can hear sounds through the player's microphone.
