Our take on Feudalia
The store pitch emphasizes becoming a feudal lord and growing three fiefdoms, but the actual activity described is a card-driven management loop. Its main distinction is choosing development paths for vassals and villages, not commanding armies or exploring a broad kingdom.
What is Feudalia?
Feudalia combines deck building with resource management in a feudal setting.
Players control three fiefdoms, each with a village, and use cards to manage vassals who produce resources and money. Those resources support village expansion, population growth, vassal specialization, and the hiring of teachers who provide special abilities. Vassals can develop new skills as the fiefdoms progress, but not every specialty can be acquired. Alongside building prosperous territories, players can work toward constructing a cathedral commissioned by the king. The game centers on choosing how to develop each of the three fiefdoms and how to use the available card effects, resources, money, and vassal skills.
How Feudalia plays
- 01Three fiefdoms
- Each territory contains a village that can be expanded and developed.
- 02Vassal progression
- Vassals gain skills, specialize in different roles, and provide resources or money.
- 03Teacher hiring
- Great teachers grant special abilities as part of village development.
- 04Cathedral project
- A separate objective involves building a cathedral for the king.
- 05Limited specialties
- The development system prevents access to every available vassal specialty.
