Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly directed campaign may find the sandbox structure too open-ended.
- Players who prefer a single management system may hit a wall when life support, automation, transport, and colonist needs overlap.
- Players looking for a game centered on combat may not find the described resource-management focus suitable.
Our take on Farlight Explorers
The bounce point comes when base or spaceship systems must be maintained together. Players may hit a wall at the transition from gathering resources to coordinating automated production, interplanetary transport, and colonist needs after building the Singularity Gate.
What is Farlight Explorers?
Farlight Explorers is a 3D space sandbox about space exploration, science fiction, and resource management.
Players select a starting planet from the galaxy map, gather resources from planets and asteroids, and build a base with food, water, oxygen, and electricity. Automated extraction and production support the creation of new products. Players can construct spaceships to carry goods between worlds, each with distinct resources and characteristics, or use them to explore. Building a Singularity Gate opens colony management, including construction of different buildings and fulfillment of colonist needs. Bases and spaceships also require their supporting systems, such as energy and life-support supplies, to be maintained so they remain operative.
How Farlight Explorers plays
- 01Resource extraction
- Planets and asteroids contain materials used to expand the base and develop new technologies.
- 02Life-support systems
- The base and spaceship depend on water, food, oxygen, and energy supplies.
- 03Production automation
- Resource gathering and manufacturing can be automated as the base develops.
- 04Goods transport
- Spaceships carry materials between worlds with different characteristics and resources.
- 05Colony management
- After the Singularity Gate is built, colonists and their needs become part of the management system.
- 06Space exploration
- Spaceships can be used to visit other planets and explore beyond the starting world.
