Our take on False Dream
Rather than giving anomaly hunts a fixed answer every time, Nightmare Mode allows sequences with nothing to photograph. That changes the usual search-game expectation: absence becomes part of the investigation, while the camera remains the main way to make progress.
What is False Dream?
False Dream is a dream-based game about inspecting scenes through a camera and recording features that do not belong in reality.
Standard Mode places an anomaly in every scene, whereas Nightmare Mode can present scenes with nothing unusual, leaving uncertainty about whether an anomaly is absent or merely overlooked. One completion of Standard Mode generally takes from about 20 minutes up to an hour and a half. Finding the full set requires over three hours and covers 81 anomalies. Photos taken by the player are retained after quitting, but findings revealed through the radio aid are lost. Head Bob and Motion Blur can both be reduced to zero, and the visual settings offer several Global Illumination levels.
