Our take on Fading Afternoon
Players who want every story beat fixed may bounce at the choice structure and its multiple endings. The harder stop comes for anyone expecting combat alone: progression also moves through city exploration and mini-games rather than staying within beat’em-up encounters.
What is Fading Afternoon?
Step into the role of Seiji Maruyama, an aging yakuza newly out of prison and called “Gozuki,” a formidable presence his oyabun relies on.
His advancing years complicate the part expected of him. The story draws on familiar yakuza conventions but lets players stray from them, raising the question of whether those old patterns still count for Maruyama. Play combines intricate beat-’em-up fighting, mini-games, and city exploration. The story can reach several different endings.
