Our take on Expel
Its defining structure is a first-person ghost session followed by a replay viewed from an investigator’s perspective.
What is Expel?
Play as a ghost in a house visited by ghost investigators.
Frighten them with surprise attacks, curses, and other methods, including some threats that use a microphone. The game starts from a first-person perspective and uses keyboard and mouse controls. A replay can later show the game from an investigator’s viewpoint, revealing how the ghost’s actions appeared. Players can pursue investigators to raise their level or explore ways to create frightening replay videos. Investigator names and voices are randomized. Replay data uses the multiplayer function, so lag or other conditions may cause results to differ from the original play. The game includes flashing lights.
How Expel plays
- 01Investigator viewpoint replay
- A later replay shows the session from the perspective of an investigator.
- 02Microphone-based threats
- Some frightening actions involve a microphone.
- 03Ghost level raising
- Chasing investigators can increase the ghost’s level.
