Our take on Exit the Gungeon
The premise gives equal weight to survival, changing equipment, and familiar characters, but the actual structure centers on repeated arcade combat during an ascent. Conversations provide short pauses rather than a substantial narrative campaign.
What is Exit the Gungeon?
Exit the Gungeon is an arcade-style dungeon climber following the Gungeoneers as they attempt to escape a collapsing, paradoxical Gungeon.
Players ascend increasingly dangerous elevators while fighting waves of enemies and the final Gundead. A magic blessing causes the gun to change form during the climb, with stronger forms linked to better play and higher combos. Rooms shift between attempts, while bosses, unusual weapons, items, and enemy groups vary the ascent. The action moves at a frantic pace, with brief pauses for conversations involving familiar and new characters. It is structured around repeated attempts to reach the exit, combining shooting, combo building, changing equipment, and encounters that differ from run to run.
