Our take on Freedom Finger
Rather than keeping combat at shooting distance, the game makes the ship’s hand shape part of the moveset: players can punch and seize enemies, then use captured foes’ guns against others. This mixes side-scrolling shooter play with close-range attacks.
What is Freedom Finger?
Freedom Finger is a music-driven, side-scrolling shooter with 40 handcrafted levels across 13 worlds.
Players fly a ship shaped like a giant hand, shooting enemies and using melee moves to punch or grab them. Captured enemies can be used as a source of weapons. Each world brings different enemies, power-ups, and challenges. Story Mode uses voiced and animated scenes, with a satirical plot covering topics including communism, US foreign policy, sriracha sauce, and video-game crafting. Difficulty settings range from relaxed story play to a tougher challenge. The soundtrack combines original music by Aesop Rock with licensed tracks from artists including Red Fang, METZ, Power Trip, and Com Truise.
