What is EXAPUNKS?
Set in 1997, EXAPUNKS follows a former hacker who trades one job for one dose of medicine while living with the phage.
Players program EXAs, or execution agents, to enter networks, copy themselves, destroy files, eliminate other agents, and exit. Missions cover locations such as banks, universities, factories, television stations, highway signs, game consoles, government systems, and the player character’s body. An underground computer magazine provides tutorials, hacking advice, secrets, and commentary. Optional activities include hacking servers to access games and creating homebrew software for a console. Programs can also be tested against friends in direct competitions. Players may build custom networks and publish them through Steam Workshop.
