Our take on ESC
Rather than centering a conventional adventure structure on exploration or combat, ESC uses simulated typing and alternating viewpoints to reveal events. Its network setting and glitch-art presentation frame the story as an investigation assembled across perspectives.
What is ESC?
ESC is a fiction built around questions of selfhood, assumed roles, and aspirations.
Raine navigates VerdaMUCK, a text-based recreation of an earlier network inside the near-future Cerenet. Elsewhere, a secretive person called The Navigator discloses details about the Cerenet as a developing plot comes into view. The narrative unfolds through two viewpoints, which players alternate between to assemble the complete story. Play involves simulated typing and takes 4–6 hours, with duration varying by reading speed. Its presentation pairs glitch-art imagery from Dataerase with music by Lena Raine, a separate track by Christa Lee, and audio design by 2 Mello.
