Our take on Dust and Salt
Its structure alternates between a world map for choosing destinations, narrative passages shaped by decisions, and a separate tactical map for turn-based battles.
What is Dust and Salt?
Dust and Salt combines a choice-led story with turn-based tactical battles.
After his father is killed and his village is razed, a young warrior seeks revenge and must decide how to deal with enemies and build alliances. A world map lets players travel between locations, while ongoing decisions shape the narrative and its branches. Fighting shifts to a tactical map, where units including lightly equipped infantry and armored hammer-wielders take turns in combat.
Choices made early in the game determine the protagonist’s abilities instead of selecting abstract skills. Interactive conversations bring the Lords of the Sin Lands into the story, which asks whether the warrior will free the land from oppression or become an oppressor. The game also features detailed map illustrations and a Nordic soundtrack.
