Our take on Dreadhalls
Its focus on stealth, darkness, and evasion leaves little room for conventional combat. The changing dungeon layout supports repeat runs, but players seeking a broad arsenal or a character-driven campaign may find the design restrictive.
What is Dreadhalls?
Dreadhalls is a survival-horror game set in a large dungeon that changes its layout between play sessions.
The objective is to explore the corridors, survive encounters, and find a route out. Stealth, movement, and a small light are the main tools available. Creatures move through the darkness, so players can hide or flee rather than rely on weapons. Oil found in the dungeon keeps the light working. Positional sound cues and an original soundtrack provide information about the surrounding environment. Drawing on survival-horror and roguelike genres, the game places repeated exploration in a threatening setting where the route and dangers vary from one session to the next.
How Dreadhalls plays
- 01Changing Dungeon Layouts
- The map is procedurally generated, so each play session uses a different arrangement.
- 02Stealth-Based Survival
- Players evade dungeon creatures by hiding or running instead of using conventional weapons.
- 03Light And Oil
- Oil collected during exploration replenishes the light used to navigate the dark environment.
- 04Positional Sound Cues
- Directional audio and a custom soundtrack convey information about the surrounding space.
