The day-and-night format gives the game two distinct modes, but it also divides momentum between visual-novel investigation and turn-based combat. Players focused on either extended exploration or uninterrupted battles may find the alternating structure less consistent.
What is Death end re;Quest 2?
Mai Toyama travels to the mountainous town of Le Choara after enrolling at the Wordsworth girls’ dormitory, where her missing sister was last seen.
Daytime sections present the investigation through visual-novel-style scenes, conversations with residents, and clues about the town’s buried history. At night, Mai and her squad explore areas filled with Shadow Matter and engage in turn-based RPG combat. The Overkill system rewards damage dealt beyond an enemy’s remaining health with bonus experience. Knockback attacks can send enemies into other party members for combo attacks. A Berserker may appear during exploration or combat, marking an area before delivering an instant-kill attack.
