Play as police detective Howard Loreid while investigating paranormal events connected to his troubled past.
The adventure moves through Arkhamend, a Victorian mansion, snow-covered woods, and underground structures. This Director’s Cut for Steam adds a new location, refreshed environments, visual effects, additional puzzles, and gameplay adjustments. Unlike the first game, it uses a 3D first-person format with free movement and physical interaction with objects. Players can illuminate areas, push, pull, and throw items, while solving traditional puzzles, interpreting dreams, and examining documents for clues. A built-in hint system offers Standard, Detective, and Senior Detective difficulty modes. The atmosphere combines Lovecraft-inspired horror, real-time cutscenes, dynamic lighting, and haunting music.
