Is Dark Quest 2 worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Fans of fantasy dungeon crawlers who want to manage a group of heroes
- Strategy players who prefer turn-based combat with one action per hero each turn
- Small groups seeking cooperative campaign play with shared party control
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat may bounce off the one-action-per-hero turn structure
- Players wanting settings beyond castle-based adventures may find the campaign’s scope limited
- Players who prefer character-independent combat may not enjoy managing heroes with different strengths
Our take on Dark Quest 2
The bounce point arrives during combat, when every hero is limited to one action per turn. Players who prefer rapid commands or real-time reactions may find the deliberate party management restrictive, especially when a poor choice leaves the group exposed inside the castle.
What is Dark Quest 2?
Dark Quest 2 is a turn-based RPG about leading a group of heroes into a castle to defeat an evil sorcerer and his minions.
Each hero can take one action during a turn. The party explores maze-like maps, discovers hidden doors, and fights orcs while using each character’s distinct strengths. A village provides access to new powers, weapon crafting, and potions that improve the heroes’ capabilities. The game includes a single-player campaign, cooperative multiplayer for completing the campaign, and a map editor for creating and sharing adventures through Steamworks. Dice-based mechanics and the Skull of Fate add chance-driven elements to the dungeon adventure.
