Our take on Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals
The listing presents several modes and progression features, but the central structure remains competitive multiplayer in maze arenas. The role-switching rules in Soul Collection and the fixed 4-versus-2 setup in Maze Escape shape the experience more narrowly than the broad party-game framing suggests.
What is Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals?
Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals places players in frightening mazes, choosing between monster and mortal roles while competing for soul shards in three modes.
Maze Escape pits four mortals against two monsters: the mortals collect enough shards to open an exit, while the monsters hunt them before the countdown ends. Shard Mayhem is a six-player monster battle in which shards appear in waves and can be seized from rivals. In Soul Collection, six mortals gather shards, and the lowest scorer after each wave transforms into a monster.
One mortal remains victorious at the end. Characters use ultimate powers, and item boxes grant abilities, healing, traps, or status changes. Progression includes leveling, reward unlocks, and access to skins, characters, and artwork through the Store.
