Is Cube Universe worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- RPG players who want exploration across procedurally generated planets
- Small groups who want cooperative dungeon battles with NPC party support
- Builders who want crafting and large-scale voxel construction alongside combat
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a finished release may hit a wall at the game's stated Alpha stage.
- Players seeking a tightly authored world may bounce off procedurally generated planets and quests with branching decisions.
- Players looking for player-versus-player battles may find the current scope limiting because PvP is planned for a later beta release.
- Players who want an established modding ecosystem may need to wait for the planned beta mod support.
Our take on Cube Universe
The bounce point arrives at the game's unfinished-state boundary: players expecting server tools, mod support, or PvP will encounter features marked for later Alpha or Beta releases rather than current systems.
What is Cube Universe?
Cube Universe is a first-person voxel RPG set across procedurally generated planets.
Players can travel through space in a personal ship, battle enemies, purchase and improve spacecraft at space stations, or explore planets on foot. Dungeons include caves and towers with formidable foes. Quests from people and fungi provide experience and sometimes weapons or armor, with choices affecting the direction of events. Combat offers five weapon types with distinct abilities and talents, including fire magic, healing, and protection. The game supports solo play and group play, with non-player characters filling empty places in five-person dungeons. Professions such as tailoring, blacksmithing, jewelry, and enchanting support crafting. Building uses 0. 5-meter cubes and reaches over 2 km, or 4096 blocks, in height.

Cube Universe compared to similar games
Cube Universe combines first-person combat, generated planets, spacecraft, crafting professions, cooperative dungeons, and voxel building. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition focuses on an unconventional story and exploration of a strange city, while Back to the Dawn centers on surviving and escaping a prison. Tales of Symphonia follows an adventure involving the fate of two connected worlds rather than Cube Universe's generated planets and construction systems.
