Our take on Containment
Instead of expanding through armies, economies, or territory, this strategy game centers on bacterial growth, isolation, antibiotic timing, and score bonuses. Its compact level structure also replaces the genre's usual long campaign with short, contained scenarios and a later sandbox mode.
What is Containment?
Containment is a turn-based strategy and simulation game about controlling bacterial growth.
Each round alternates between bacterial spread and player action. Antibiotic doses are limited, while ending a turn early allows research into stronger treatments. Bacteria lose health over time, isolated bacteria can die on the following turn, and separating them awards points. Remaining doses also contribute to the final score. The game includes an interactive tutorial, 9 levels with three-star goals, and a sandbox mode unlocked after completing the main game. A single run can be completed in one sitting, while leaderboards and additional goals provide longer-term challenges. The presentation combines cute and sleek visuals with relaxing music.
How Containment plays
- 01Limited antibiotic supply
- Each level restricts the number of treatments available for managing bacterial growth.
- 02Research trade-offs
- Choosing to finish a turn early permits research into stronger antibiotics while giving bacteria more time to spread.
- 03Isolation scoring
- Separated bacteria can die on the next turn, and isolated organisms award bonus points.
- 04Nine scored levels
- The main game contains 9 levels with three-star goals and additional leaderboard challenges.
- 05Sandbox mode
- A creative sandbox becomes available after the main game is completed.
