SimulationIs C O S M worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Science learners who want to explore molecular and cellular structures visually
- Educators creating guided tours of biological processes
- VR users interested in interactive scientific environments
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a conventional game with objectives, progression, or combat
- Users wanting a broad set of completed simulations rather than a scientific viewer with some interactive scenes
- People using Linux or platforms other than OSX and Windows
Our take on C O S M
The focus on viewing and teaching scientific structures leaves less room for conventional game systems such as objectives, progression, or varied challenges. The experience is centered on exploring annotated worlds and simulations rather than providing a structured campaign.
What is C O S M?
Explore scientific environments built from real datasets by moving through multiple scales, from larger biological structures down to molecules.
COSM Worlds visualizes large molecules, DNA, and cells in 3D, including scenes where molecules interact with DNA or transport molecular cargo inside cells. The viewer supports both VR and non-VR use on OSX and Windows. Annotated worlds provide descriptions of the processes shown, and users can create tours for teaching or sharing. Separate worlds can also be connected through zooming to form a larger multiscale model. The vendor plans to add MRI and CT scans, more cell types, and further simulation features.
How C O S M plays
- 01Real-data structures
- Three-dimensional scenes represent large molecules, DNA, and cells using real structural datasets.
- 02VR and screen viewing
- The software supports virtual-reality experiences as well as non-VR use on OSX and Windows.
- 03Molecular simulations
- Some scenes show molecules expressing genes through DNA interactions or moving cargo inside cells.
- 04Annotated scientific worlds
- Descriptions explain processes within the environments, and custom tours can be created for teaching.
- 05Multiscale exploration
- Connected worlds can be traversed by zooming between different levels of scale.
