Our take on AlCHeMoS
The game centers on level-based collection, extraction, and time comparisons, trading open-ended play for a structured run through each environment. Its upgrade choices can be changed from the main menu, but the core loop remains focused on completing stages and improving times.
What is AlCHeMoS?
AlCHeMoS is a single-player action and exploration game set across molecular worlds created from real protein-structure data.
Players pilot a Proto-Atomic Shell through each level, gathering protons, neutrons, and electrons before reaching an extraction point at the other end of the protein chain. Dark Matter forces evolve as play progresses, bringing new challenges. Discovering elements unlocks abilities for movement, particle control, and combat, including a gamma-ray emitter that freezes enemies and the Annihilator. Side objectives award Quarks, which can be used to purchase upgrades for movement, energy regeneration and efficiency, and resistance to radioactivity.
Upgrades can be reconfigured from the main menu. Each level has a Steam-friends leaderboard for completed times. The game also includes an interactive laboratory workbench, with unlockable ornaments, and music that reacts to the game state.
