We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Flight-game players who want direct control over aircraft deflectors
- Arcade stunt fans who enjoy demanding movement systems
- Players seeking procedural difficulty that increases while collecting rings
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want conventional up, down, left, and right flight controls may hit a wall when learning to manage individual air deflectors.
- Casual players may bounce off the demanding mastery curve and the need for sustained dedication.
- Players susceptible to motion sickness may struggle during the gliding, diving, grinding, and wall-driving movement.
- Players seeking a fixed, hand-authored environment may not enjoy progression through procedurally generated spaces.
Our take on stratO
The bounce point arrives at the flight model: movement depends on balancing individual air deflectors and their combined torque. Players expecting familiar directional controls may stall during early practice, before reaching the game's advanced stunt and recovery mechanics.
What is stratO?
stratO is a demanding flight game built around direct control of individual air deflectors rather than conventional directional commands.
Their combined torque controls the rocket-glider as it glides, dives, grinds, wall-drives, magnetizes, and burns through rings. Collecting rings increases the difficulty of the procedurally generated environment, while fog can leave the aircraft stranded. Sliding can provide a boost, and boosting through rings or sliding during a boost can restore fuel. Tucking changes wing magnetization, sliding, engine thrust, and drag. Keyboard, Xbox controllers, generic gamepads, and flight sticks are supported on PC, with remappable controls. An alternate colour scheme is available for players with Deuteranopia.
How stratO plays
- 01Deflector-based flight
- Aircraft movement comes from adjusting individual air deflectors and combining their torque.
- 02Procedural difficulty
- The environment is generated procedurally and becomes harder as rings are collected.
- 03Refueling movement
- Boosting through rings or sliding during a boost can restore fuel.
- 04Remappable controls
- Keyboard, Xbox controllers, generic gamepads, and flight sticks are supported, including remapping for menus and interface navigation.
- 05Colour accessibility option
- An alternate aircraft and orientation-indicator colour scheme is available for players with Deuteranopia.
