Our take on Buoyancy
Instead of keeping a city anchored to one site, Buoyancy makes relocation part of resource planning. The settlement itself moves across the ocean to reach drifting materials, while population care, production, and defense remain ongoing management concerns.
What is Buoyancy?
Buoyancy is a city-building strategy game set on an ocean world.
Players expand a floating settlement by connecting platforms and placing buildings for gathering, production, hunting, military, and utility tasks. Villagers deliver resources for construction and production in real time. As the population grows, players balance food and happiness while dealing with sickness and fires. The city can move across the water to reach scattered resources and floating debris; nearby resources can increase building production. Exploration includes finding fish schools and derelict ships. Pirates may attack after spotting the city, so Guards and Junk Cannons can be used for defense. Cannons can damage friendly units as well as pirates.
How Buoyancy plays
- 01Mobile settlement
- Moving the city toward ocean resources can raise the output of its buildings.
- 02Population management
- Villagers need food and happiness as their numbers grow, while illness and fires threaten the settlement.
- 03Pirate defense
- Guards and Junk Cannons protect the city, though cannon fire can also hit friendly units.
