SimulationIs BridgeTeam: Ship Simulator worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Ship simulation fans who prefer sailing and docking over combat-focused gameplay.
- Players seeking practice with radar and basic bridge controls rather than a broad set of ship operations.
- NMEA equipment users working with the $GPRMC format who want a TCP/IP connection to a simulator.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a broad range of bridge controls may find the basic conning and autopilot systems limiting.
- Players wanting activities beyond sailing and docking may find the simulation's scope narrow.
- Players who need NMEA formats other than $GPRMC for current connections.
Our take on BridgeTeam: Ship Simulator
The focus on ship handling comes with a limited set of bridge controls: the conning screen and autopilot are basic, and several radar tools remain planned. The current NMEA connection also supports only the $GPRMC format, which narrows its use with other equipment.
What is BridgeTeam: Ship Simulator?
BridgeTeam: Ship Simulator lets players sail across open water or practice docking in busy harbours.
The simulation includes ships, a radar system with true and relative motion trails, a basic conning screen, and a basic autopilot. AI ships, wind and tide effects, and bow and stern wakes are also included. NMEA equipment can connect over TCP/IP, with current support for the $GPRMC format. The vendor says other NMEA formats may be added in future or on request. EBL, VRM, and parallel index lines are also identified as planned features, not current functions. Basic simulator operations are covered in a video provided in place of a user manual.
How BridgeTeam: Ship Simulator plays
- 01Radar motion trails
- The radar can display trails in true and relative motion modes.
- 02NMEA over TCP/IP
- Current NMEA support covers the $GPRMC format and connects to ECDIS and other NMEA equipment.
- 03Ship and weather simulation
- AI vessels, wind, tides, and wakes at both ends of the ship are included.
