Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who want a cube-matching survival challenge
- Puzzle fans who prefer adjustable match rules and cube directions
- Score chasers who want separate rankings for 36 play variations
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed, story-led puzzle campaign may find the repeated matching structure limited.
- Those who prefer slow, unchanging challenges may dislike Survival mode's increasing cube speed.
- Players looking for a broad multiplayer game may not find the solo puzzle format suitable.
Our take on Boxed In
The adjustable puzzle rules provide variety, but the central activity remains cube matching across every mode. Players who want broader gameplay must reach the island content, where exploration and the jet-pack mini-game sit alongside rather than replace the core challenge.
What is Boxed In?
Boxed In is a cube-matching game with VR support and traditional keyboard, mouse, or controller controls.
In Survival mode, colored cubes approach from the front, ceiling, or floor at increasing speed; matching colors removes connected cubes, while rapid clearing builds a score multiplier. Solitaire mode places stationary cubes in the room for slower, untimed clearing. Difficulty changes through the number of colors, required match size, and cube direction, creating 36 play variations. Players can recolor, add, or push cubes. Each variation has its own leaderboard. Escaping the puzzle room also opens a magical island with a castle, sharks, and a jet-pack mini-game.
How Boxed In plays
- 01Two Play Modes
- Survival ends when cubes crush the player, while Solitaire ends after the room is cleared.
- 02Variable Difficulty
- Three settings alter color count, match size, and the direction from which cubes arrive.
- 03Cube Manipulation
- Players can recolor cubes, add new ones, or push nearby cubes.
- 04Mode Leaderboards
- All 36 variations have separate score rankings.
- 05Explorable Island
- Leaving the puzzle room reveals a castle, sharks, a jet-pack, and a jet-pack mini-game.
