Our take on Boons & Burdens
Rather than treating difficulty as a fixed setting, the game makes it part of run progression: each level adds a chosen burden, turning the route to greater power into a series of voluntary trade-offs.
What is Boons & Burdens?
Battle demon hordes across 12 levels in a single-player action-roguelike set in hell.
Choose among four character classes, collect gems to buy boons, and select a new burden at each level to change the difficulty. Runs can use four modes: Delve, Arena, Endless Arena, or Limited Draft. Progression includes 222 talents, 30 rings that can be upgraded between runs, unlockable equipment, and large spells for hectic encounters. The game includes more than 24 enemy types, six bosses, multiple difficulty levels, and 56 Steam Achievements. Visual effects, colors, and controls can be customized. Twin-stick, 360-degree analog, and mouse-and-keyboard controls are supported, with individual games lasting less than 30 minutes.
