Our take on Boinihi: The Ki Codex
The exploration premise and puzzle-solving receive more attention than the control setup: much of the game uses the mouse, but character movement requires keyboard input. That hybrid arrangement may feel less conventional than the Myst and point-and-click comparisons suggest.
What is Boinihi: The Ki Codex?
Explore Boïnihi, an uncharted moon where a hermit left behind a mysterious codex.
This adventure combines first-person exploration with a third-person character and mouse-focused interaction, while movement requires a keyboard. Play as a Terran astronaut, collect objects, record observations, search for clues, and solve logical puzzles across four regions: Peibin Lake, Library Island, Ailhon Woods, and Hydra Crest. The story follows an astronaut who reaches the moon after four years in space and investigates the legacy of an ancient catastrophe. The game includes 3D characters over prerendered scenes, animated videos, 12 original music tracks, voice performances, and bonus files such as MP3s, video, a DVD cover, and comics. A playthrough is estimated at around 7–12 hours without a walkthrough.
