Our take on Bloodless
The central premise gives non-lethal, counter-based combat most of the attention, so this is not a broad weapon-combat game. The separate rogue-like mode and Arenas add challenge structures, but the core identity remains a story-led action adventure built around disarming opponents.
What is Bloodless?
Play as ronin Tomoe in Bakugawa, an isolated land ruled by Shogun Akechi and shaped by past wars.
Combat centers on counters, dash-counter moves, and ki-based attacks that disarm enemies rather than kill them. Special techniques support different combinations, while crests and herb infusions provide additional combat enhancements. Exploration covers sacred areas and districts affected by the military regime. Warrior Idols scattered through Bakugawa unlock Arenas for further combat challenges. The game also includes Namazu’s Wrath, a rogue-like mode set on a mysterious island, where Tomoe fights corruption, completes cleansing challenges, and pursues her former self, The Slasher.
How Bloodless plays
- 01Nonlethal Combat
- Tomoe uses counters and ki attacks to disarm members of the shogun’s army instead of taking their lives.
- 02Combat Customization

- 03Bakugawa Exploration
- The journey moves through sacred environments and districts affected by a violent military regime.
- 04Arena Challenges
- Collecting Warrior Idols opens Arenas that focus on testing combat skills.
- 05Namazu’s Wrath
- This rogue-like mode places Tomoe on an island with corruption-cleansing challenges and a pursuit of The Slasher.
