StrategyIs Blood Card worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelike card-game fans who want to build a deck during runs
- Players who enjoy deciding when to take on optional encounters
- Deckbuilders interested in a health system tied to the draw pile
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a forgiving health system may hit a wall when damage removes cards and an empty draw pile ends the run.
- Players who prefer a fixed sequence of encounters may find the randomized rewards and enemy encounters hard to plan around.
- Players seeking a game centered on direct character movement or action combat may not find that focus here.
Our take on Blood Card
The clearest sticking point is the health rule: damage shrinks the draw pile, and losing every card ends the run. Players who rely on a separate health meter may hit that wall as soon as the first damage forces a discard.
What is Blood Card?
Blood Card is a roguelike card game built around deck construction and battles.
Gather cards as the run progresses, then use them against enemies. Health is tied to the draw pile: each point of damage removes a card, and running out of cards ends the game. The final boss pursues the player, who can attempt a fight at any point or choose to escape. Encounters and events include monsters, elite enemies, and stores, with the option to choose when to face them. The game includes more than 230 cards, over 40 events, 10 bosses, and 60 monster types. It also has monster challenge, custom, and daily challenge modes, with card rewards and enemy encounters generated randomly.
