Our take on Beyond the Map
Rather than assigning a traditional class, the game combines baseline skill development with powers obtained from spellbooks. Its structure also ties outward exploration to base construction, professions, and equipment crafting.
What is Beyond the Map?
Beyond the Map is an isometric survival action RPG set in a procedurally generated fantasy world.
After a shipwreck beyond the charted seas, players explore mysterious lands divided into distinct biomes, each with different enemies, resources, and challenges. Progression does not use traditional character classes. Instead, skills provide baseline abilities, while rare spellbooks found during exploration grant additional powers. Players establish a base, gather resources, and practice professions to create and improve armor and weapons. Crafting also includes potions and enchantments used during survival. The core loop combines outward exploration and combat with base development, equipment upgrades, and encounters with increasingly strong enemies in search of better loot.
