Our take on Barbaria
The asynchronous setup lets realms remain open to raids between play sessions, but it also means attacks do not depend on both players being present together. The trade-off is less direct, simultaneous interaction than a live-match format.
What is Barbaria?
Barbaria combines first-person VR combat with realm building and asynchronous multiplayer.
Fight with weapons and objects such as axes, bows, and rocks, or use traps to launch opponents. An immortal form can leave the fight while minions continue battling, with meteors available to attack from above. Build a realm from tile fragments, then place structures, champions, and minions to defend it. Other players can raid realms even when their owners are away. Attacks on a realm can be watched as miniature replays from the Stronghold, and rewards are given when a team repels attackers. Notifications about attacks appear each time the game launches.
How Barbaria plays
- 01Immortal Form
- Leave direct combat while minions keep fighting, then attack from above with meteors.
- 02Realm Defense
- Assemble tile fragments and position structures, champions, and minions against raids.
- 03Attack Replays
- Review miniature recordings of raids on a realm from the Stronghold.
- 04Asynchronous Raids
- Player-built realms remain available for attacks when their owners are not playing.
