Our take on Auto Rogue
Pre-battle automation removes moment-to-moment combat input, so the main trade-off is between detailed preparation and direct control once a fight starts. The format favors experimenting with combinations before watching the resulting battle unfold.
What is Auto Rogue?
Auto Rogue is a roguelike focused on programming combat before each battle.
Skills can be paired with conditions to produce altered effects, such as lowering a skill's cost after reducing HP, increasing maximum HP after a finishing blow, or triggering a costly skill twice. Items, build direction, and enemy traits vary from run to run, so each attempt requires a new plan. Relics join skills and conditions as build components. Battles then play out automatically, with no complicated controls during the fight. Enemies, skills, and events change between runs, while progression centers on the player's growing knowledge and strategy rather than a stronger character.
How Auto Rogue plays
- 01Automated Combat
- Battle outcomes are set up before the fight and then play out without direct combat controls.
- 02Conditional Skills
- Special conditions can modify basic abilities by changing their costs, effects, or activation behavior.
- 03Changing Runs
- Enemies, available items, build direction, skills, and events vary between attempts.
- 04Relic Builds
- Relics are included alongside abilities and conditions as components for assembling a build.
