Its defining structure is the yearly succession loop: after taking the throne, the next king inherits the prior ruler's skills and combat approach, turning the previous run into the following challenge.
What is Asura Valley?
Asura Valley is a survival RPG about defeating the king and becoming the new ruler.
After each year, the next king inherits the previous ruler's skills, enhancements, creeds, and fighting style. Actions can affect later rounds: the game gives an example in which overhunting geese results in no chickens in the following round, while completing the game with a weapon can raise that weapon's price. Repairs are required for survival, and repair parts come from defeated enemies; there is no hotel for resting.
Skills can be learned from hunters, while magic stones are bought in stores and used to learn abilities. Weapons use different skills, enhancements change effects through combinations, and creeds alter combat. New Game+ makes the main character a new king for another challenge.
