Our take on Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered
The clearest bounce point is the challenge-mode switch: Course and Countdown put a clock on collecting coins or reaching the finish. Players who prefer an unhurried pace may hit that wall there; Extreme mode raises the pressure further with larger numbers of tougher Romans.
What is Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered?
After returning from a hunt to find their village burned and its people taken, Asterix and Obelix set out with Dogmatix to rescue them.
The journey passes through places including Greece and Egypt before reaching Rome. Players can switch between Asterix and Obelix, fight Romans, pirates, and Vikings, and use magic potion. Four additional modes change the play structure: Retro Mode switches to the original graphics; Course mode asks players to collect coins before time runs out; Countdown mode is a race to the finish through obstacles; and Extreme mode adds more numerous and tougher Roman enemies. The adventure follows the pair as they try to free their captured fellow villagers.
