Our take on Army General
Rather than centering on a broad global campaign or rapid real-time engagements, the game focuses on turn-based desert operations with persistent forces, adjustable formations, and user-created campaigns. Its structure combines historical scenarios with a toolkit for extending the battlefield beyond the supplied missions.
What is Army General?
Army General is a turn-based strategy game about World War II operations in North Africa and parts of the Mediterranean.
Campaigns cover the Italian invasion of Egypt in 1940 from the British side and an Axis advance toward Suez in 1941/42. Units can be modified by changing officers, equipment, and subordinate formations to match each map. The game includes 20 scenarios in the German campaign and five in the British Operation Compass campaign, along with tutorial missions. More than 450 officers from ten nations can gain experience through battles, while 250 equipment types cover land, air, and sea warfare. Players can also build and share custom scenarios and campaigns using the editor.

Army General compared to similar games
Men of War: Assault Squad also covers tactical World War II warfare, but its description emphasizes large-scale strategy combined with direct, hands-on combat. Army General instead centers on turn-based North African campaigns, persistent armies, officer progression, equipment selection, and an editor for custom scenarios and campaigns.
