Our take on Arcanium: Rise of Akhan
Its open-world structure trades tightly controlled pacing for run-level decisions: staying in a Province raises the Threat meter, while route choices have lasting effects on the current run.
What is Arcanium: Rise of Akhan?
Arcanium is a single-player strategy card adventure combining open-world exploration, roguelite runs, and deckbuilding.
Players control three heroes, each with individual skills, ultimate abilities, equipment, upgrades, and a starting deck tied to one of six classes. Exploration takes place on a procedural 3D map divided into Provinces, where a Threat meter raises enemy difficulty the longer the party remains. Turn-based battles require coordination between all three heroes, including swapping characters to shield vulnerable allies. Runs include artifacts, new cards, cross-character abilities, and consumable items. Outside combat, ability decks and equipment rosters can be changed. The objective is to defeat Akhan the Calamity and protect Arzu from destruction.
