Our take on Shards of Order
The shared-deck structure makes every card and equipment choice affect the whole party, but it reduces the freedom to build each hero in isolation. Countdown-based encounters also replace conventional turns with continuous attention to timing.
What is Shards of Order?
Shards of Order is a dark fantasy RPG built around card-based combat without turns or mana points.
Enemies act on visible countdowns, while played cards alter when those actions occur, making time management central to each fight. Three heroes share one deck, so adding cards changes the drawing odds for the whole party. Each character has multiple playstyles, a skill tree, and a personal story arc. Leveling, equipment customization, dialogue choices, and skill checks support the RPG structure.
Weapons and armor shape how heroes play and can add cards to the shared deck. The journey covers three regions, handcrafted boss encounters, and the recovery of shattered Laws that once governed life, death, and time. Restoring them brings consequences and draws the attention of an all-seeing God.

- 03Three Playable Heroes

- 04Gear-Based Deckbuilding
- Weapons and armor shape character playstyles and can add distinctive cards to the shared deck.
- 05Law Restoration
- Recovering the Laws that governed existence changes the world while bringing the party closer to an all-seeing God.
Shards of Order compared to similar games
Back to the Dawn is a prison-escape RPG focused on survival, investigation, crime, and hidden agendas, while Shards of Order centers on card-based combat, shared deckbuilding, and restoring shattered Laws. Shards of Order also uses visible enemy countdowns and three linked heroes rather than Back to the Dawn’s maximum-security prison setting.
