Our take on ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif
The focused 4–8 hour structure keeps the adventure compact, but that brevity limits room for extended exploration, character development, and a large-scale campaign. Its expansion format also ties some progression to importing a character who defeated the main game’s final boss.
What is ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif?
A demonic threat and volcanic eruption place the coastal city of Setarrif at the center of a new crisis.
The nameless hero joins allies while political intrigue, unexplained events, and hostile forces shape the story. The expansion adds new enemies, armor, weapons, characters, locations, and dungeons, including lava and beach settings. Some sections can be played from the perspective of established allies. It is presented as a standalone expansion, with an option to import a character from the main game if that character defeated its final boss. The stated playing time is 4–8 hours. The story follows events after King Rhobar III’s release from demonic control and his army’s attempted campaign against Setarrif.

ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif compared to similar games
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition centers on an unconventional story, characters, and exploration of a dangerous city, while ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif presents a shorter expansion built around combat, new equipment, and additional locations. Back to the Dawn is a prison-escape RPG focused on survival, investigation, crime, corruption, and hidden agendas, rather than ArcaniA’s demonic threat and volcanic setting. Tales of Symphonia covers an epic struggle involving a chosen figure and two interlocked worlds, giving it a broader fantasy-conflict scope than Setarrif’s 4–8 hour story.
