Our take on APOX

The hybrid design trades some focus for breadth: players manage bases, resources, positions, weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and strategic sites within the same real-time battles. That creates a wider control burden than a game centered only on conventional RTS management or direct shooter action.

What is APOX?

APOX combines real-time strategy with first-person-shooter tactics.

Players can move soldiers into prone or crouched positions, change weapons, use grenades, collect weapons and equipment, and manage limited ammunition, including sharing supplies between soldiers. Bases, strategic locations, resources, and vehicles remain part of the strategy layer, with soldiers placed into vehicles to create custom unit setups. Eight missions introduce combat and the game's mechanics. Afterward, players can use 100 scrimmage maps against AI opponents, play cooperatively with friends against bots, or compete against other players. The game supports matches with up to 32 players, an internet matchmaking lobby, clans, ratings, stat tracking, offline skirmishes, and a map editor.

APOX compared to similar games

APOX combines base building, resource management, strategic locations, vehicles, and shooter-style soldier control. Anomaly: Warzone Earth also mixes action and strategy, but its listed scope centers on directing forces against alien turrets in a reversed tower-defense structure rather than combining RTS management with first-person-shooter tactics. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened focuses on cooperative action RPG and tower defense systems with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization.
