- Players who want a finished story universe may not prefer a game presented as receiving additional episodes and content over time.
Our take on Apastron
Rather than using a single self-contained campaign, Apastron frames its open-world FPS around a recurring defender and comic-like episodes. That structure leaves room for new stories while combining shooting with double jumps, vaulting, talismans, and light sword combat.
What is Apastron?
Apastron is a retro-styled open-world first-person shooter set across a threatened multiverse.
Players control Phoebe Harper, a defender restored for another life, while investigating a plot involving the drowning planet Coelho and the occupied metropolis of Central 98. Gameplay combines gun combat with sliding, automatic climbing and vaulting, double jumping, light sword melee, and talisman-based player augments. More than 50 guns can be found, purchased, looted, or earned.
Available content includes three episodes: Nation of Apathy, Universe of Sin, and Time of Crisis. A Macrocosm Event mode and the Infiltration #1 side quest are also included. The developer presents the game as an ongoing universe with additional episodes and content planned over time, and states that future addons will be free for owners.
